Poll Says Texans More Religious than the Nation

Texans are religious, and proud of it, according to a recent poll taken by the non-partisan Texas Lyceum organization.  On all poll issues, Texans proved themselves much more religious than the nation as a whole.  For example, 68% of adult Texans believe the Bible is the literal Word of God, in comparison to 35% of adults nationwide ( Pew Research Center , 2006).  However, numbers are mixed: 68% of Texans support government funding of faith-based initiatives and 82% support displays of the Ten Commandments, but 52% also supporting the government funding of life-taking embryonic stem cell research.  CLICK HERE to read more.
