Schools Drop “History” Months

In the face of an outcry from parents and the American Family Association, the Philadelphia public schools have dropped “Gay and Lesbian History Month” from the 2007-2008 calendar.

The head of a homosexual advocacy group called the move “appalling,” while the leader of a pro-family organization hailed it as “a courageous step” to protect students “from the dangerous message that ‘gay is okay.'”

“The approximately 200,000 students that are part of the Philadelphia School District will not be given the false message that homosexuals played a significant role in American or world history,” said Diane Gramley, president of the American Family Association of Pennsylvania. “Some, like Abraham Lincoln, have been falsely accused of being homosexual, [but] let’s face it, those who identify as homosexual only make up between 1 and 3 percent of the population.

And why isn’t being gay OK?

And homosexuals have played a massive role in human history. Just for one very quick example, without a homosexual the creation of the computing machine (arguable one of the cornerstones of modern society) would have been considerably delayed. Alan Turing, sadly, was not declared a hero (which he most certainly was) for his work but instead his homosexual lifestyle was such a source of persecution that he eventually committed suicide.

    That is a true tragedy.

    Thank you for your comment.

Homosexuality is an immoral alternative lifestyle. It is a sinful choice that people make and it is condemned in the Bible.

Why not allow parents to have sexual relations with their children and marry them? Why not allow those who practice beastiality (sex with animals) to marry? Should we overlook someones sinful/immoral behavior because they make a contribution to society? These are immoral alternative lifestyles that are harmful and should never be condoned. However, we should not persecute these people either. We should engage them compassionately to help them rise above their sin.
