Send Hope and Encouragement to a Prisoner or Someone You Love

From Mark Earley and Prison Fellowship Ministries.

“Remember those in prison as if you were their fellow prisoners, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.”
– Hebrews 13:3 (NIV)

No one loves a prisoner; at least that’s what they (the prisoners) believe.

Last night, nearly two and a half million people spent the night behind bars and barbed wire in America’s prisons and jails. These are places of darkness, despair and empty of hope. Some of these prisoners have spent many years, even decades, locked away in loneliness.

Their own families turn away from them, the “black sheep” of the family. More than 85 percent of prisoners — men and women — who are married when they enter prison will be divorced when they leave. Prisons are the end of the earth; homes for losers and those who will never amount to anything. That’s what they believe about themselves. It is not a matter of low esteem; it is a matter of no esteem.

But there is someone who loves prisoners and who once was one. That’s Jesus.

And we need to tell prisoners to hang on, to raise up hope, to prepare for a life beyond prison, and they can do this through Jesus Christ. And you can make this difference in a prisoner’s life today by sending words of encouragement through a free e-card.

On our secure Website, you can choose a card style and a message for us to send to someone. Sign only with your first name. None of your personal information beyond that will be given to the prisoner or anyone else. But Prison Fellowship will produce your card and deliver it to a prisoner in one of our InnerChange Freedom Initiative (IFI) units who is crying out for help. You can also send a free e-card of encouragement to a friend or a loved one too.

Jesus commanded us to remember and visit those in prison. For those who cannot make a personal visit to a prisoner, Prison Fellowship uses Internet technology for you to tell a prisoner — a man or a woman — that someone loves and cares about them. You can lift them up and give them hope. And it won’t cost you a dime!

Just click here and prepare your message. It takes but a moment. But you can make someone’s day today and for days to come.
